Pressure dependence of the: transition temperature of the high-7'. Cu-oxide superconductors strongly suggests the importance of the apical oxygen. By an assumptionthat the distance between the Cub. plane and the apical oxygen governs the transitiontemperature, displacement of the apical oxygen below T. is verified through thephenomenological Ginzburg-I,andau theory.
