On the Scattering of Fast Neutrons from Li-D Reactions.

Total scattering cross sections for 37 elements have been measured for heterogeneous fast neutrons of mean energy 6.5 Mev. Irregular variations of cross sections with atomic weights were Observed at magic number nuclei but they were not all smaller than the neighbouring nuclei as is the case for inelastic scattering or capture processes. It is probable that elastic scattering cross sections become large at those nuclei. Other large irregular variation of cross section was found at Ti.
