Ionization of an atom by collision with another excited atom, A*+B→A+B^++e, is discussed theoretically, where the transition A*→A is optically allowed. Approximate formulas for the cross-section are derived by two independent methods from the fundamental equations of time-dependent perturbation. The cross-section of the above prcess varies as v^<-2/5>, where v is the relative velocity of the atoms.
