A new diffusion mechanism is suggested to interpret the remarkable deviation from the Einstein relation observed in the diffusion of silver ions in the high temperature forms of Ag_2S and others. The essential feature of the proposed mechanism lies in admitting the cooperative jumps of two or more ions.
