In Coulomb excitation experiment the multipole order of the excitation process can be determined on the basis of the yield curves theoretically, but the yield curves of E2 and E1 excitation are nearly parallel for large values and it is difficult to distinguish E2 from E1 on the basis of the excitation function. In this work, in order to determine the multipolarity of the mode of excitations, thick target yield ratios have been measured for the 200 keV and 280 keV states in As^<75> and the 210 keV state in Pt^<195> using protons and α-particles as projectiles. Each of the states was found to be reached by an electric-quadrupole transition.
