The flow of an electrically conducting viscous incompressible fluid due to uniformly accelerated motion of an infinite flat plate is discussed. A uniform magnetic field fixed relative to the fluid is supposed to be present. It is found that when the induced field is negligible compared to the imposed field, velocity at any point and at any instant decreases with the increase in the magnetic field strength. It is further shown that the increase in magnetic field results in an increase in the drag suffered by the plate.
