Since the advent of the meson theory by H. Yukawa, the mutual transition of elementary particles has been recognized to be classified into two categories such as the strong and the weak interaction besides the conventional electromagnetic interaction. Considerable new fruits in the field of theory of elementary particles have been obtained during the subsequent three decades, yet within the original scope of Yukawa as for the scheme of mutual interaction among elementary particles. Recently, however, a certain new stage seems to be disclosed in the particle physics after the proposal of composite model by Sakata in 1955, when atomismus were revived in the renewed form. With the advance in the theory as well as in the experiment, the following notion has been gradually conceived that a fresh turn would be inevitable in the coming development. In view of such stage of the present particle physics, it will be instructive to remember its past development in various aspects. In this paper we shall confine ourselves in the problem of weak interaction and have a brief look at the hitherto obtained progress and discuss about some of its nowaday problems.
