The fractional parentage coefficients for the nuclear jj-coupling states of both protons and neutrons are discussed in the conventional shell theory. The fractional parentage coefficients are factorized into three parts, the first of which is simple, and for the second and the third factors detailed discussions are given. Necessary recursion formulas for calculating them are derived and the systematic procedure for the orthogonalization are found in the cases that more than one states with the same quantum numbers appear.
