This study explores the benefits of interclass activities between Japanese and international students in terms of the linkage of intercultural communication and language education. This was the third time we conducted such an interclass activity between an English class for Japanese students and a Japanese class for international students. The activity was a one-shot face-to-face discussion in groups of three or four participants of mixed nationalities. The topics discussed were entertainment news, political issues, historical awareness, and so on. Analyzing the result of the post-questionnaire, four factors were found: (1) Enjoyment to interact with foreign cultures; (2) Desire to be exposed to cross-cultural communication (Japanese > International **); (3) Eagerness to learn domestic and international affairs; (4) Motivation to acquire the communication language (Japanese < International *) (*p<0.05, **p<0.01). Although some participants from both groups had shown disinterest or disgust towards each other, previous to the activity, the actual interaction stimulated and satisfied them. This is revealed in factor 1. The significant difference in factor 2 indicates that the Japanese students are usually less exposed to other cultures than the international students and therefore have a greater desire for such exposure. The scores of factor 3 are both high. And the significant difference in factor 4 means that the interaction with the Japanese students encouraged the desire of the international students to acquire better communicative competence in their second language. Even so, the Japanese students also got motivated to learn English, having been exposed to their counterparts' fluent use of Japanese, their second language, which suggests more influence on the Japanese students from this kind of activity
