How can the hospital pharmacists contribute to the patients as one of the professionals in the medical service team has been my lifelong objective rather than to become a R&D pharmacist. My conclusions are: 1. What a medical service team relys most upon pharmacist profession is his capability in drug evaluation. This capability should relate to base of techniques of dispensing, manufacturing, testing, D.I.and control of drug storage and its handling. 2. Developmental method of this capability to a professional level is by person. Recommendable methods from my experience are (A) to study physiology in depth (B) to learn by heart generic and trade names of all drugs in my hospital. These methods have given me a substantial approach to combine all the knowledge of science of pharmacy consisting of pharmacology, pharmaceutics, etc. to make a useful drug evaluation. 3. A new drug is often explained with a new theory which has just established. Accordingly, a hospital pharmacist is requested to get familiar with the number of new theories to work in a close cooperation with medical doctors. 4. Maintenance of a good human relationship with doctors and nurses is vitally important to develop the capability in drug evaluation.
