The phase transition behaviour and the aggregation state for a binary mixture composed of a liquid crystal(LC) with a strong terminal group and other LC hasing no such group are reported. The composite exhibits an induced smectic phase. New bistable and reversible light switching upon application of electric field with frequency are also investigated for a polyner/induced smectic composite film. A thermal writing and local erasure in polymer/induced smectic display with highly transparent memory properties are described.
