The K→πe^+e^- decay is investigated under the vector meson dominant model of the electromagnetic interaction of hadrons. To the extent that this model describes the actual process, the following results have been obtained: i) the breakdown of the SU(3) symmetry at the photon-vector meson vertices may be such that it enhances the γ-ω coupling strength but greatly reduces the γ-φ coupling strength; ii) the K-π weak vertex function is almost momentum independent; iii) the decay rates for K^+→π^+e^+e^- and K_1^0→π^0e^+e^- are equal; iv) the branching ratio for K^+→π^+e^+e^- turns out to be of order 10^<-10>.
