Our previous space-time picture of elementary particles, in which the particle mass arises from the particle trajectory with changing time direction or Zitterbewegung, is reconsidered from the view point of the two-component fermion theory, and the origin of Zitterbewegung is sought in the fluctuating metric of cosmological origin. Since the universe is supposed to have its beginning within a very small spatial region, a possible alteration, brought about by our space-time picture, of the notion of mass in regions smaller than the Compton wavelength is also discussed.
