Covariant Description of Deuteron and "Intrinsic" Quadrupole Moment

It is pointed out that deuteron may possess generally an "intrinsic" component of quadrupole moment of order〜e^2/ (deuteron mass)^2 purely due to its covariant character as spin-one particle which has never been considered in nuclear potential models. By applying a tentative covariant scheme this is shown actually to give desirable effects.
