Microscopic Study of α-Cluster Matter : Nuclear Physics

A class of a-cluster matter is investigated from a microscopic point of view. A lattice of α-clusters is employed as intuitive model for α-cluster matter. Results concerning α-cluster matter reproduce the bulk properties of ordinary nuclear matter fairly well. The volume and surface terms in Weizsacker's mass formula are discussed within the framework of this model.
