Self-adjointness is shown of the Hamiltonian for a Bose-like oscillator, whose canonical variables satisfy the generalized commutation relations due to Wigner. The main difficulty is that its potential is singular and contains the reflection R: Rψ(x) = ψ(-x). The proof is carried out here by making use of the Lax-Milgram lemma, a convenient tool for elliptic partial differential equations. Also the eigenvalues obtained previously by Ohnuki and Kamefuchi are shown to be the ones of the self-adjoint Hamiltonian in a certain case.
