Analysis of Single-Pion Production Reactions π^++p→π^++π^0+p, π^++π^++n below 1 BeV

The single-pion production reactions π^+p→π^+π^0p, π^+π^+n below 1 Bev are analyzed by using the "generalized isobar model" based on the Lovelace equation. The "generalized isobar model" includes the effect of the pion cloud around the nucleon in addition to the (3-3) isobar production of the usual isobar model. The estimate of the production amplitude includes no adjustable parameter. We calculate the charge ratio σ(π^+p→π^+π^0p)/σ(π^+p→π^+π^+n), the distribution of Treiman Yang angles φ and β, and the angular distributions of final pions in the overall center of mass system. The agreement with experiment is much improved compared with the usual isobar model.
