The previous treatment of the Kondo effect by the present author, where the impurity spin S was assumed to be 1/2, is generalized to the case of general S. It is shown that the approximation used there is exact to infinite order of the exchange constant as far as only the most divergent terms in each order of a perturbational expansion are concerned. The energy of the system and the static magnetic susceptibility are calculated and the relation between this and other theories is discussed.
