From a product of modified Cabibbo currents which effectively involves the breakdown of SU(3) symmetry, the parity violating (p. v. ) amplitudes for nonleptonic hyperon decays are derived in a pole dominance model with the four-fermion type of weak interaction. It is shown that the relative values of the amplitudes are consistent with experiment and the relation A(Σ_<+^+>)≈0 is caused by the fact that the ratio d/f is nearly equal to √<3> in the weak as well as the strong interactions. The parity conserving amplitudes are also discussed on the assumption of octet dominance on the basis of our results on the p. v. decays and general investigations of recent experimental work.
