Bootstrap Mechanism and Non-Leptonic Weak Interactions

Non-leptonic weak interactions are discussed from the standpoint of the bootstrap mechanism, under the assumption that the multiplicities of baryons and pseudoscalar mesons are smaller than eight. By analysing baryon-pseudoscalar meson scattering amplitudes of the non-zero ΔI, ΔU and ΔP processes, it is shown that the only one consistent symmetry with the bootstrap mechanism is restricted to the global symmetry. And, consequently, the parity conserving part of the non-leptonic weak interactions has the properties of ΔI=1/2 and ΔU=1. The parity-changing part of them is also discussed. The selection rules are also derivable for this part as a result of the assumption that baryons are self-consistent bound states of themselves with π mesons. Further the resulting weak interactions are such that Σ^+→N+π^+ is a pure p wave, while Σ^-→N+π^- is a pure s wave.
