Ball-Frazer's formula is re-examined. A similar but somewhat different formula is derived starting from the assumed neglect of the contribution from the left-hand cut. In connection with this formula a classification of the mechanism of resonances is attempted, by considering different behaviors if the coupling between channels is switched off.
