Various effects of the γ-3π interaction on the electromagnetic properties of the deuteron are examined by making use of the effective interaction Hamiltonian suggested from the isoscalar part of the electromagnetic form factors of the nucleon. The contribution of the γ-3π interaction to the magnetic moment of the deuteron is unreasonably large, namely comparable with the observed value, although this result depends strongly on the inner part of the deuteron wave function and the pion dissociation probability of the nucleon. The electric quadrupole moment due to the γ-3π interaction is about 20% of the observed value. The γ-3π interaction also contributes to the photodisintegration of the deuteron through the M1 and E2 transitions with the ^<3>S+^<3>D final state. The interference term between the usual E1 term and ours contributes appreciably to an asymmetry in the angular distribution.
