Various variational principles are explicitly presented for the N and/or D amplitudes in the dynamical S-matrix theory. When the generalized potentials (the left-hand discontinuities of the partial wave amplitude) are given, the upper and lower bounds of the inverse reaction matrix, K^<-1>, in both single and coupled channel cases, are discussed from the viewpoint of the variational method. The crossing relation or the self-consistency requirements are not discussed here.
