The general formalism of the transverse conductivity, developed in the previous note, is applied to the simplest example, i.e. the free electron gas, and shown to result in the same extremely anomalous skin effect as the usual method of Reuter and Sondheimer. It is also pointed out that the deficiency from the optical sum rule in this example indeed leads to the Landau diamagnetism as required by our general formula.
