Scalar-Coupled Black Holes in Classical Kaluza-Klein Theory with the Lovelock Lagrangian

Motivated by the fact that stationary and neutral black holes in the usual Kaluza-Klein theory cannot exhibit non-trivial scalar coupling to the compactified internal space, we consider an addition of higher-order curvature terms with the form of the Gauss-Bonnet combination to the Einstein equations. We obtain a spherically symmetric black hole solution perturbed by a massive scalar field which depends on the radial coordinate as r^<-6>. The effect due to such a scalar coupling is investigated, and it is found that the Hawking temperature is increased and the area of the event horizon is decreased.
