• Chapter Yugiri is located in decline of Hikaru Genji, who is the hero of 'The Tale of Genji'. Yugiri is his son. Chapter Yugiri has various problems.Until now Yugiri has been dipicted as 'mamebito', which means a sincere,serious man who has remained faithful to his wife Kumoi-no-kari. When the reader comes to read this chapter however,they are surprised at his change. Yugiri falls in love with Kashiwagi's widow ,Ochiba-no-miya. This article shows that Yugiri doesn't change his character, is based on the change of his image. The subject of this chapter, is based on the change of his image. This paper mainly analyzes the narrative style in the beginning of this Chapter Yugiri.
