The domestic science of a women's junior college in Japan is forced to be wholly examined and improved. The living science of a primary school, a junior high school and a senior high school has taken the place of the domestic science, and boys as well as girls learn it at school. The department of domestic science of a women's junior college is also changing its contents and names. 0ne of the grounds of it is that the mode of a family life has been changing as the society has come to maturity. The other is that the spread of an electronic computer urges women to work as hard as men. Therefore housewives can be employed again after bringing up their children. That is why the present women's life cycle has been changing. Those concerned with college education should correspond to the change of educational surroundings and develop the new education for young women. (This paper is based on the address which I made at a Training Meeting for the Teachers of Domestic Science held by a Japan Private Junior College Association in November 7, 1988, and it was largely revised for publication.)
