1. Eighteen years old population in 1992 was 2,050,000,1,980,000 in 1993, 1,860,000 in 1994 and 1,770,000 in 1995, which keeps decreasing year by year, at the rate of 3.4 percent, 9.27 percent and 13.66 percent. But applicants to the private junior college were 855,188 in 1992 and were 623,968 in 1995. The decrease rate is 27.09 percent, which is twice the decrease rate of eighteen years old population. The high decrease rate has a very important meaning. 2. Decrease of eighteen years old population, economical depression and aim at higher or longer education brought about decrease of applicants to the private junior college. The decrease rate of applicants remarkably rose in the following fields : literature, liberal arts, homemaking course. They are looked upon as traditional culture education for young women. 3. 0n the contrary, applicants are increasing in the fields as follows : CAD (computer aided design) education, bio-technology and nursing paramedical technology. This trend means the time has come when woman is getting independent.
