This study is a series of papers which have been published in The Bulletin of the College of Arts and Sciences at Sapporo, Tokai University (BCASSTU)(NO.4-No.8) and Hokkaido Tokai University Bulletin Humanities and Social Sciences (HTUBHSS)(No.2-No.4) since 1986. The Purpose of this study is to investigate Lafcadio Hearn's fifty-four year career in as much detail as possible and to describe the stages of his career in the form of a chronological record. The details of how he collected materials for his writings, the process he employed in creating his works, the changes that took place in his thought and so on are brought out by reproducing Hearn's daily life in detail. My research so far relates to the latter part of his life which he spent in Japan. I eventually intend to offer a complete picture of Lafcadio Hearn's life, by obtaining information and materials relating to his British and American days. This paper continues the inquiry into the stage of his life in his Kobe days(in 1895).
