The preliminary experiment was achieved of the physiological influence of color temperature of light sources on man. The fluorescent lamps of calor temperatures 2,800,4,200 and 6,500 (K) were employed as light sources. Heart rate, based on the R-R interval, was measured about 20 subjects for 25min. under each color temperature of three illuminance 32,320 and 1,000 (lx). The room temperature was kept at 24±1℃. Quantity of physiological load on the subjects was estimated from the avarages of R-R intervals, quantities and frequencies of changes of R-R intervals during 25min. The color temperatures of the least physiological load at each illuminance were guessed to be 2,800 (K) at 32 (lx), 6,500 (K) at 320 (lx) and 4,200 (K) at 1,000 (lx). The lighting condition of the least load was 6,500 (K) at 320 (lx). Psychologically, however, 4,200 (K) at 320 (lx) or 6,500 (K) at 1,000 (lx) was estimated to be the most comfortable condition. Therefore it seems that the physiological influence of lighting conditions is not always consistent with their psychological influence.
