"The technique of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry was applied to the analysis of air pollutants around several factories, such as petrochemical, kraft pulp and paint industries. the samples of 200l were adsorpted on fire brick by cooling with liquid oxygen and injected to GC-MS according the ordinary GC operation.As the results of these researches, it was found that the pollutants below ppb were definitely identified and these were also the materials that were usually treated in the manufacturing process in each factory. For example, in case of Kawasaki city, lehihara city and Yoshihara city, acetaldehyde, acetone, methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, propyl alcohol, butyl alcohol, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone, ethyl acetate, n-butyl acetate, methyl methacrylate, ethyl acrylalc, trichloro fluoro methane, chloro ethane, trichloro trifluoro cthane, dichloro mono fluoro methane, dichloro ethylene, trichloro methane, carbon-tetrachloride, diehloro ethane, tetrachloro ethylene, benzene, toluene, xylene, 1,3-butadiene and other hydrocarbons were detected. "
