Characterization of Embryogenic Stages in Oncorhynchus masou (Yamame) on the basis of Peptide Constituents in The Whole Embryo

In order to characterize embryogenic stages of Oncorhynchus masou ( yamame ) in terms of changes of the peptide constituents in the whole embryos, we analyzed the constituents of the embryos during embryogenesis by means of a two-dimensional electrophoresis and a statistical method. It was observed that three major drastic changes of the numbers of peptides take place at borders between 12 and 13 days (B1213), between 20 and 21 days (B2021) and between 30 and 31 days (B3031) after fertilization. These results suggest that embryogenesis of O. masou can be divided into four stages (1) between fertilization and B1213, (2) between B1213 and B2021, (3) between B2021 and B3031, and (4) between B3031 and hatching, which correspond to the cytoplasmic maternal stage, the organogenic stages before and after eye pigmentation, and the preparative stage of hatching, respectively.
