• Taking into account of discussing multilaterally and synthetically how to differentiate the delinquency, and attempting to standardize the method ofdifferentiating the delinquency, which were final purpose of these successive studies, following three methodological problems in determining the standard of estimating "the degree of the delinquency”(hereafter mentioned as DD), were discussed.(1)What sort of theory of the delinquency should be adopted, and how should be the delinquency defined?(2)What sort of sub-categories to compose of DD should be selected?(3)What sort of mathematical models to estimate DD should be selected?By reviewing bibliographies on pluralistic understanding of DD in Japan, it was found that researchers were common to their regarding the concept of the delinquency as operationally composed one which was emphasized on introducing mathematical concept of average into estimating DD, sub-categories which were attributed to criminal careers, were essential for estimating DD, and Such mathematical models as multivariate analyses were mainly adopted in analyzing data. Findings which were obtained by discussing above-mentioned problems, and which should be solved in further studies of estimating DD, were as follows.(1)Such sub-categories as criminal careers, i.e. dispositional status, frequency of admission to juvenile classification home, and so on, which had tautological meanings to be attached to the delinquency, were adopted.(2)sub-categories which were likely to produce individual differences in estimating DD, were adopted.(3)Individual differences were found both in estimating DD and in collecting data for sub-categories.Only practitioners who are engaged in juvenile classification, are formally admitted to estimate DD in Japan. Therefore, I think it is necessary to listen to practitioner's opinions of estimating DD, and to prepare the standard for estimating DD.
