There are ponderous variations in Byzantine-Mosaics regarding their forms, themes, and the level of dexterity. This result is attributable to the fact of the duration and the area covered by Byzantine empire. The more area was expanded, the more the centralization became uneasy in terms of both the politics and the art. At that time the politics meant the religion, I.e. the catholicism, and the art meant church construction and its decoration. Because of dogmatic disputes on the catholic principles, the plan of church had to be changed according to the interpretation of dogma at that time. Those disputes had grave effects on the art of mosaics which covered the dome, apse, presbytery, transept, and ails. The author introduces the late Byzantine churches and monasteries located in Greek and Italy with the remarks on the relationship among those edifices in terms of activities of artisans. It is also stressed that the political ability of the kings and the lords who rules in Mediterranean Sea was one of the most important factors which constituted the splendid decorative art in Western history.
