It is of great importance to understand the process and the mechanism of the eyesight for in visual arts. However the mechanism of seeing is concealed deep in the brain which is the most misterious subject in sciences. The existence of Hermann-Hering grid was discovered by L. Hermann in 1870. Since then, the study of Hermann-Hering grid has been conducted by physiologists, psychologists and artist as well. Hermann-Hering grid phenomenon is deeply connected with brain activity in the process of seeing. Because Hermman-Hering grid can be seen only in our brain as illusory dot, it is believed that we can not measure the lightness of Hermann-Hering grid and the ratio of foreground figure to background one. Therefore, I employed the method of exhaustive comparison aided by computer. In order to do so, I had to write a program which measures thousands of cases of ratio, lightness, and such concerning Hermann-Hering grid. Since it must be assumed that the way how Hermman-dots are seen differs one person to another, I needed many trials conducted by different persons concerning various phases of Hermman-Hering grid. Finally I present the results of the above measurements so that it can be used for applying those to various fields of studies.
