• Formula SAE is a competition held in Detroit every year by the Society of Automotive Engineers in USA. The competition is for engineering students to conceive, design, fabricate and compete with small formula style racers similar to hill climb racers in UK. The restrictions on the chassis and engine are limited so that the knowledge, creativity and imagination of the students are challenged. The challenge of the team is to design and fabricate a prototype vehicle that best meets these goals and intents. This report describes the design concepts, specification and performance of the vehicle produced by Nippon team. The team was to be the first Asian team to take part in the event and won the SAE Bookstore Perseverance Award.
