Pressor responses in the cat evoked by the electrical stimulation to the left cervical sympathetic nerve trunk were studied. Stimuli used were 10 sec pulse trains having the intensity of 2V, 4V and 8V, and also having the frequency of 10Hz, 20Hz and 50Hz, respectively. The threshold to evoke pressor response was about 2V. There observed a tendency that the size of the pressor response was within 100-150 mmHg range smaller in comparison to those in both higher and lower blood pressure ranges. These results support the idea that this pressure range may be the setting point (optimum point) of blood pressure in an unknown circulatory feedback control system in the cat. Other relating pressor responses were also discussed in relation to the stimulation site in the sympathetic nervous system.
