• This paper reports characteristics of structural response of high-rise buildings to earthquakes studied by numerical calculations. In this paper dynamic response of various storied buildings modeled on a existent building of 19 stories are analysed to three kinds of seismic waves (EL centro, Taft and Tokatioki-Hatinohe). The results obtained here show that the higher buildings are less influenced by earthquakes because their natural vibration periods become longer and the same components of periods including seismic response spectra are less.
