This study aims to enhance the nature of architectural design, by considering the trend of architectural designs and expressions of the modern age from the viewpoint of architectural iconology, and also by clarifying the origin of creation by an architect. This third study deals with the drawings of German architect, Fritz Schumacher's (1869-1947)"Studien, " which were drawn a hundred years ago in his efforts to create an architecture for a new epoch. They consist of twenty studies on facades of various buildings drawn in charcoal in which he experimented with revealing the genuine form from the masses and their division in the powerful lines of his works. While many architects who lived in the last generations were handling styles and decoration of several periods, Schumacher tried to innovate a modern architecture for the twentieth century through the balance of masses and the contrast of light and shade. This is evident in Fritz Schumacher's drawings in his youth
