Research on Pressure Fluctuation Reduction Mechanism of Rubber Hose of Spiral Hose

The spiral hose are used almost all automobiles as a reduction device of noise and vibration of the power steering system. The reduction mechanism of the spiral hose, however, has not been proved yet, therefore, efficient design method is not framed. As a result, the automobile makers design the spiral hose after repeated try and error. Then, the reduction mechanism of rubber hose that was the component of spiral hose was analyzed experimentally. As the experimental setup, the power steering system for passenger cars installed on the test stand was used. The pressure fluctuation levels of inlet and outlet of rubber hose were measured, and these were compared with the results of the rigid piping. Added to those measurements, the revolution tracking analysis was conducted. It was found that the reduction range of rubber hose for pump rotation speed was limited by the driving conditions of power steering system.
