The Geotail satellite is in the orbits of skimming the day-side low-latitude magnetopause since December 1994. These orbits provide a good opportunity for the study of excitation and propagation of ULF waves near the day-side magnetopause. The instrumentation of Geotail is good for such a task since the satellite can measure simultaneously the magnetic, electric fields and low energy plasma data. Wave properties and spatial distributions of Pc 5 observed in the vicinity of the day-side magnetopause boundary are investigated. The data are examined over 27 months from December 1994 to February 1997. The results are summarized as follows; 1) Pc 5s are observed mainly near the dawn and dusk flanks. 2) There is a clear asymmetry of the wave property between them, i. e., the pure transverse electric field oscillations in the dawn flank and the compressional magnetic field oscillations in the dusk flank, suggesting that there is a different background plasma property between them. This different plasma property might control the generation mechanism of each type of Pc 5. 3) Typical amplitudes of δE and δB of Pc 5 are 1mV/m and 1nT, respectively. 4) Poynting flux is 10^<-7>-10^<-8>W/m^2. 5) The energy flux from a flank is about 10^8-10^9W, if the longitudinal and latitudinal extents of a flank are assumed as 90 and 20 degrees. 6) The total energy penetrating across the flank during one hour is estimated as about 10^<13>-10^<14> J, which is one order less than the magnetic substorm energy of about 10^<14>-10^<15> J. These results suggest that ULF wave energy should play an important role for the energetics in the magnetosphere.
