The flow of electrohydrodynamics (EHD) phenomenon induced by applying a high electric voltage between the pole electrode and plane electrode in the insulating liquid has been experimentally studied. The shape of electrodes, the distance between electrodes and electric field strength were systematically changed to clarify the influence of flow mechanism of EHD phenomenon. The velocity measurement of particles in the insulating liquid by laser doppler velocimeter (LDV) and the flow visualization by tracer method have been carried out. The silicone oil was used as a working liquid. It is known that the flow field is changed when some particles or another liquid is mixed with the insulating liquid. Therefore, the mass of particles, the kind of particle and the mass of ethanol in the insulating liquid were also changed. The micro capsulated thermally sensitive liquid crystal and dusts, a kind of dusts and aerosols for industrial testing, were used as the mixed particles. As a result, the induced velocity continues to increase as the applied voltage become higher, and as the distance between electrodes become narrower. The velocity increases to a certain fixed level as the mass of particles and ethanol increase.
