Correction Term of Landau Damping Due to Trapped Particles

An approximate expression for the damping coefficient of an electron plasma wave with a finite amplitude is obtained. It is given in the form, γ_<NL>(τ)=γ_L [1-(E^^-_<0^2>)/(64) (2/3τ^3-τ^2+τ-1/2+1/2e^<-2^τ>] where γ_L and γ_NL stand for "the linear and the non-linear Landau damping coefficients". Here τ and E^^-(τ) are adequately stretched time and electric field, and E^^-_0 = E^^-(0). The above expression is valid for τ << ω_B^<-1> where ω_B is the bouncing frequency of electrons trapped in a potential trough of the wave.
