The microwave emission of electron cyclotron harmonics is measured on a positive column in are discharge. The number of successive harmonics observed and their respective amplitudes increase with decreasing the gas pressure. The highest harmonics number observed (N_<max>) is determined by the magnitude of the collision frequency between electron and neutral particles. It is shown that N_<max>=2 in the high pressure discharge of neon (p=7.8 torr) and N_<max>=15 in the low pressure disharge of mercury vapor (p=2.6×10^<-3> torr). As the gas pressure decreases, N_<max> measured on the plasma, when the whole discharge tube is immersed in the magnetic field, is larger than that, when a part of positive column is placed in the field. Furthermore, the peculiar resonant peaks are observed in the vicinity of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th harmonics.
