The influence of non-white and non-Gaussian reactivity noise on the neutron density fluctuations in an at-power reactor has been studied. The reactivity noise is assumed to be described by the asymmetric dichotomic Markov process and the exact expressions for the fluctuations of neutron density, such as the mean, relative fluctuation and power spectral density, are derived through the stochastic Liouville equation. It is shown that the shape of the power spectral density of neutron density fluctuations is influenced significantly by the variations of the noise parameters, such as the correlation time and the skewness, which characterize the non-white and non-Gaussian reactivity noise. It is also shown that in a special case the power spectral density reveals a peak even though the input reactivity noise does not have any periodicity.
