Morphological studies of the hypertensive vascular changes in various organs, especially the testes, in SHRSP (F_37-F_51) were preliminarily performed using histological, microangiographical and histometrical methods. Hypertensive vascular changes of the testes in SHRSP developed at a higher incidence rate (75%) and from an earlier stage (about 100 days of age) than do those in man. These changes began with the thickening of the wall of arterioles under 20 to 30μ radius, and then, in addition to this change, fibrinoid necrosis appeared. Histometrically, prior to the appearance of these organic changes, a thickening of the tunica media was found in all the trunks and branches, and dilatation of the vascular lumen was found in those arterioles and small arteries of the testicular arteries with a radius of 20 to 75μ. Also, convolutions in the runways of the testicular arteries seemed to cause a functional or organic circulatory disturbance to take a role in the high incidence of hypertensive vascular changes in the testes of SHRSP.
