神経の可塑的変化は、脳の高次機能の発現と維持に必須の反応であるが、ほとんどの可塑的変化は、いまだ現象論に留まっている。その中において、海馬を中心としたシナプス可塑性については、ずいぶんと分子レベルの解析が進んできており、特定の糖鎖構造が重要な役割を演じていることが明らかとなってきた。そこで本稿では、5種の糖鎖構造に焦点を絞り、シナプス可塑性への関わりについて解説する。
