In this article, we describe the results of the development on an objective lens with a numerical aperture of 0.95. Manufacturing tolerance becomes the first issue for the realization of such lens. Measurement methods for the lens are also discussed in the article. The lens developed shows diffraction-limited performance. The lens is also installed in an optical pickup and analyzed in read-back experiments. The result confirms a superior modulation transfer function of the lens.
