Nitride capacities (<I>C</I><SUB>N</SUB>=(mass%N)·<I>P</I><SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB></SUB><SUP>3/4</SUP>/<I>P</I><SUB>N<SUB>2</SUB></SUB><SUP>1/2</SUP>) in the CaO-Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>-MgO(ZrO<SUB>2</SUB>) and CaO-SiO<SUB>2</SUB>-MgO(TiO<I><SUB>x</SUB></I>) ternary slags were measured at 1873K by a gas-slag equilibration technique, using an Mo, Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> or MgO crucible under controlled partial pressures of oxygen (log(<I>P</I><SUB>O2</SUB>/atm)=-11--14) and nitrogen (<I>P</I><SUB>N2</SUB>=0.9 atm). The <I>C</I><SUB>N</SUB> values increased with increasing the contents of nitride former oxides. The <I>C</I><SUB>N</SUB> values in the CaO-AlO<SUB>1.5</SUB>-MO<I><SUB>x</SUB></I> (MO<I><SUB>x</SUB></I>=MgO, SiO<SUB>2</SUB>, ZrO<SUB>2</SUB>, TiO<I><SUB>x</SUB></I>) slags at <I>X</I><SUB>CaO</SUB>/<I>X</I><SUB>AlO1.5</SUB>=0.4-0.7 increased in the order of MgO<SiO<SUB>2</SUB><ZrO<SUB>2</SUB><TiO<I><SUB>x</SUB></I> and those in the CaO-SiO<SUB>2</SUB>-MO<I><SUB>x</SUB></I> (MO<I><SUB>x</SUB></I>=MgO, AlO<SUB>1.5</SUB>, TiO<I><SUB>x</SUB></I>) slags at <I>X</I><SUB>CaO</SUB>/<I>X</I><SUB>SiO2</SUB>=1.0-1.5 increased in the order of MgO<AlO<SUB>1.5</SUB><TiO<I><SUB>x</SUB></I> at a given MO<I><SUB>x</SUB></I> content.
