We prepared a solid-state random medium as a laser source consisting of laser-dye-doped polymer and glass-particle scatterers. The random medium was prepared by dispersing glass particles in polymer medium by laser-induced glass ablation. The gain medium emitted single-mode laser light that had a 0.15 nm spectral linewidth. The lasing action was based on the coherent feedback resulting from the strong optical scattering and was characterized in terms of the random laser. Our experimental results suggest that the spatial confinement of emitted light at certain wavelengths results in the fine tuning of the lasing frequency.
